As well as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney, James is a Chartered Engineer, having previously held product development posts in the automotive industry in Germany and the UK.

This prior industry experience assists James in providing commercially relevant advice to clients, notably to a number of small and medium sized enterprises. A significant proportion of James' time is also spent prosecuting, opposing and defending European patents for large multinational clients.

James has experience across a broad range of materials, mechanical and electrical fields, but has particular expertise in the diverse areas of consumer care products and semiconductor processing, the latter being principally in relation to microelectromechanical systems.
