Emma is a UK and European Patent Attorney specializing in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of electronics, software, and mechanical engineering. She has particular expertise in computer-implemented inventions, medical imaging technologies, image processing, and lighting systems.

Emma’s practice is centred on drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a broad range of electronic and mechanical technologies. She has particular experience protecting computer-implemented inventions and works closely with clients to secure commercially valuable patent protection for complex technologies. Her practice includes advising on innovations spanning software, hardware, and interdisciplinary engineering.

Emma’s work focuses on computer-implemented inventions, medical imaging systems, image processing technologies—including immersive video and video coding—and lighting systems. She also advises on a broader range of electronic and mechanical technologies.

Emma joined Elkington + Fife in 2019 and qualified as both a UK and European Patent Attorney in 2023. Prior to entering the patent profession, she worked in digital educational publishing, writing and editing science education resources. This experience developed her ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely, a skill that continues to underpin her patent drafting practice.
