Sally Kennedy

Sally works in the chemical field, with a particular focus on small-molecule pharmaceuticals. She has experience drafting patent applications covering small-molecule drug candidates in early-stage development and developing  prosecution strategies to secure effective worldwide patent protection. Her experience also includes working in-house, giving her insight into the commercial considerations that inform patent strategy. In addition to her prosecution practice, Sally has experience of contentious proceedings before the European Patent Office, including every stage of the opposition and appeal process.

Sally joined E+F in 2017. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2021 and as a UK Patent Attorney in 2022.

Before joining E+F, Sally studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford, obtaining her MChem in 2014. During her final-year research project, she specialised in organic methodology, investigating the cycloisomerisation of heteroatom-substituted alkynes. Sally was sponsored through university by a polypropylene films manufacturing company, where she subsequently spent two years working as an analytical chemist.
