Sophie Knott
Technical Assistant

Sophie completed a PhD at the UCL/Birkbeck Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology, having previously earned a BSc in Biochemistry from Queen Mary University of London. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the Whittingham Prize for outstanding academic achievement.
She also undertook a Physiological Society Vacation Studentship investigating the effects of temperature on optic nerve electrophysiology, and her final-year project focused on DNA repair pathways in Trypanosoma brucei.
Sophie’s PhD research focused on the structural and computational analysis of DNA-modifying proteins for use in enzymatic DNA production platforms. Her project was in collaboration with an industry partner, specialising in cell-free DNA manufacturing.
Sophie joined E+F as a Technical Assistant in October 2025.
